The good and weak points of the students were highlighted after their respective interview sessions. (SCME-2020)
  • Acknowledging the initiative, another faculty member found mock interviews helpful and beneficial for the students and emphasised that the students be provided training in areas where they scored less. (S3H-2020)
  • Dr. Tahir Mehmood
Students came with good preparation and behaved seriously.
  • It’s a good idaea to train students for interviews, but there must be financial /credit benefits for the faculty to conduct this activity. (SNS-2020)

Students Comments:

  • Students have sound technical knowledge, but several students fall short when it comes to express themselves in a confined environment.
  • Mock interviews are helpful to evaluate themselves with faculty before appearing in front of industry for interviews.
  • Questions asked during the interviews should be more diverse. (SMME-2020)
  • Industry interviews are more helpful.
  • Only faculty with industry experience should conduct these interviews
  • Sessions required on teamwork, problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Feedback helped us prepare for actual interviews
  • It was overall a good experience. It made me realise that I should pay attention to things I lack and things that I overlook that matter in the industry. It was an honour to be interviewed by a professional of such a renowned organisation. I took a lot of guidance from this activity that I look forward to implement in the near future (Iqra BESE 8 B)
  • I tend to get confused when I’m put on the spot. I shall work on that. Through this I found my weak spot and will improve it in the future. (Noorul Ain BESE 8 B)
    • The interviewer was very friendly and courteous person. I learnt a lot from the interviewer. Overall, it was an enlightening experience about the field and practical life.(Abdul Qudus,BEE 9 D)
  • It was a first time experience I was nervous. It really helped me. I learnt a lot from this interview that what are the requirements of an organisation and what type of questions they ask (Osama Nusrat, BEE 9 D)
  • It was a great experience for me. It will help me in my future job and internship interviews (Seerat Hussain, BEE 9 B)
  • I was amazed how beneficial this interview session was. Mr. Mukhtar was very kind and pointed out all my area-to-improve very efficiently. Furthermore, we had a very in-depth talk of what an interviewer looks in a potential candidate. (M Ahmad, BEE 9 B)
  • This is a good initiative by NUST to ensure that the students are well aware of the industry during their undergraduate programme and are soon ready to enter the industry right after their graduation. (M Abubakar, BSCS 7 C)
  • Excellent experience. Made me feel comfortable in the first five minutes and then moved on to formal line of questioning. Provided insightful feedback to make me reflect on my mistakes. (M Muiz ul Haq, BSCS 7 C)
  • It had been a great session with Mr. Zohaib. Being a senior and an alumnus of SEECS, he guided me a lot in terms of starting the professional career by going through various different stages involved in the hiring / interviewing process or looking for the MS programmes and universities. This is a good initiative by NUST to ensure that the students are well aware of the industry during their undergraduate programme and are soon ready to enter the industry right after their graduation. (Anas Shamoon, BSCS 7 C)
  • Interview was very good but also very tough. As interview was conducted on my field so that was more technical. I will try to improve all my interviewing skills by giving more interviews like this one. (Muhammad Ali, BEE 9 A) (SEECS-2020)
  • The students found the session informative and took interest in the talk.
  • Good initiative by NBS; Meet HR Guru helped to discuss CV and Interview deficiencies in person.
  • Interview session gave insights from a professional point of view and current trends.
  • Interview essential manual must be developed by NUST for better understanding. (NBS-2020)
  • The Interviews in my point of view were quite helpful as they helped us learn our deficiencies and strengths. Due to the pandemic we had to take them via video conference which did pose some difficulty mainly in the interactive aspect of the interview as one could not fully communicate using body language and gestures. If I could change something, I would like to get detailed feedback on my mock interview so that I can fully understand my strengths and weaknesses. (M Ahmad Ittfaq BECE17). (IESE-2020)
  • The interviews that were conducted by the department gave a useful insight to our existing standings in the job market. It helped all of us prepare with different aspects e.g., the pre-interview stress, the preparation for the interview, the actual interview, etc. It helped us in preparing good and acceptable resumes. (Humaira Maqbool BECE17) (IGIS-2020)
  • It went well. I liked the effort put in by my interviewer in guiding me.
  • The Interviewer had guided me on required documents for the interview beforehand. The interview was conducted on given time and the interviewer created a very professional environment for the Mock Interviews. (NICE-2020)
  • Faculty members should help build the CVs as well.
  • The activity helps to highlight the importance of interviews and weak areas, which need to be focused on. Video recordings should be there to identify problems during the interview session.
  • At least one interview session should take place in every semester.
  • A better set and detailed instructions for interviews may be provided for better preparation. There should not be any ambiguous instructions.
  • Students should be given enough time for preparation
  • A workshop may be arranged for students as to how to appear in the interview.
  • The mock interview session initiated by NUST is a helpful activity in order to prepare for the real ones.
  • The students understand after learning about their weaknesses which areas to improve including academics, body language, confidence, resume and how to conduct one.
  • The Good initiative by NUST; the activity helps to focus on the deficiencies which the students don’t even know. Video recordings should be there to identify problems during the interview session.
  • At least one interview session should take place in every semester.
  • A better set and detailed instructions for interviews may be provided for better preparation. There should not be any ambiguous instructions. (CAE-2020)
  • Very good initiative by Dept to groom their students ahead of the real interviews.
  • It gives us confidence and well prepare us in advance.
  • We need one such interview at least once in a year.
  • We learnt a lot during this session, we know what different questions are, how to answer, how to dress, and how to prepare. Overall, we are much satisfied with this activity. (MCS-2020)
  • Mock Interviews are a great initiative and help focus on deficiencies which as students we might not be aware of.
  • The mock interview was successful in simulating a real life interview.
  • The interviews were conducted in a professional way, many critical questions were asked and a comprehensive discussion was done on CV writing and how the presented CV could be improved.
  • After the interview, all the given answers were discussed in detail and the interviewer provided handy tips to improve one’s responses.
  • More time should be given for preparation of the interview. (ASAB-2020)
  • The mock interviews turned out to be quite helpful to us. We were assessed on various technical grounds and were also told on how to appear for an interview, the body language, dressing up and all.
  • It was good overall. I did a few mistakes too. Also I wrote about free lancing in my cv but it was not related to chemical engineering so sir asked me to remove it. Also, I didn’t do any internship, only did a single internship after 1st year in akhuwat foundation (community service) that was of 3 days only.
  • The activity proved quite useful and my suggestion would be to hold such interviews on.
  • My feedback for the mock interview session is that the session helped me get an idaea of how interviews take place and what type of questions can be asked. Moreover, I feel that more situational or behavioural/technical questions could have been asked, but overall it was a good experience.
  • It went well in terms of the fact that our interviewer/guide shared his intricate industrial and academic experiences with us as well as sharing key insights on how to conduct ourselves in an interview.
  • However, what we expected was a ‘mock interview’ too, which didn’t really happen for us but which would have definetely been a plus point to have too.
  • The interview was planned and organised properly and went well just a little confidence boost was needed when answers needed to be questioned from the interviewee.
  • The interview was planned and organised properly and went well just a little confidence boost was needed when answers needed to be questioned from the interviewee.
  • Regarding the interview session, it was a very pleasant experience as we got to know how the interviewer questions and the instructor also have us some feedback on how to approach questions. One suggestion is that along with the general pattern of questions, some technical questions should also be asked by specifying an industry per student. This will also help us get an idaea of how to precisely answer those technical question.
  • I appreciate the effort the SCME faculty have put in. I would suggest that similar activities be held more frequently.
  • Mock interview was very helpful for me. Sir Salman told us about how to build a CV how a graduate School and job Resume differ and in what areas, overall it was good effort and I’ll like SCME to continue this series and arrange another session some time later. (SCME-2020)
  • Expressing reservations, a student commented that the faculty/interviewers may please be provided an interview-template as she felt more like sitting in a viva-exam than an interview.
  • Convinced, a student shared that the faculty advisors/interviewers focused largely on academic questions.
  • Viewing with appreciation the efforts of the faculty, one student, however, wrote that some faculty members lack industrial/corporate exposure which can otherwise add more to this activity
  • Appreciating, a student shared that she found the interviews helpful considering it was her first interview and it was reflexive of her strength and weaknesses.
  • Some students highlighted that scoring largely depends upon the faculty advisor/interviewer assigned to them, the grading should be done against an objective and similar set of question for each student. (S3H-2020)
